Today is a much better day to actually write on my blog! I had a very nice day, and went out to shop for books with le Boy Friend & family in neighboring towns... It was a bit uneventful otherwise, and bookshopping got cut short due to the poor weather conditions. I managed to get most of the books I wanted, however. I finally was able to find 'Perfume: The Story of a Murderer' by Patrick Süskind. I've already read it, but it was a long time ago. I really want Boy Friend to read it.Gargoyle

I ordered 'Sébastien Roch' by Octave Mirbeau online, and I am so excited for it to get delivered...!!! It sounds like it's right up my alley. Here's the summary from Goodreads for anyone interested: "'In the catalogue of novels about lives distorted by unhappy schooldays, Mirbeau's contribution must be one of the bitterest. He follows the young, carefree Sebastien from a small French town to the bleak Breton coast. There the Jesuit fathers, in whom his snobbish father has placed so much trust, heap misery upon misery. The ironmonger's son is mocked by France's adolescent aristocracy and turns for comfort to the perfidious priests. An angry novel, but poignant through Mirbeau's descriptions of landscape to which his hero sensitively responds. But the age allows no redemption for Roch except oblivion.' Isobel Montgomery in The Guardian 'The tale is a semi-autobiographical portrait of a boy's coming of age in provincial France against a Belle Epoque backdrop. From serene impressionism to violent pornographic excesses, the bones of Mirbeau's life makes for a moving novel.' Alex O'Connell in The Times 'It is a novel that combines anger and lyricism, the raw beauty of the landscape in sharp contrast to the ugliness of real life.' Tariq Ali in The Financial Times"

I think that will set me back on track with reading as a hobby. There were some more books I wanted, but could not afford at their original prices. Let me list them so I don't forget: 'Handbook of Whales, Dolphins, and Porpoises of the World' by Mark Carwadine, 'How Far the Light Reaches' by Sabrina Imbler, 'Secrets of the Octopus' by Sy Montgomery, and 'The Faithful Executioner: Life and Death, Honor and Shame in the Turbulent Sixteenth Century' by Joel F. Harrington.

#WhoUp Pondering theyOrb,.. The WIZARD's first blog post. I still don't have a name to use online, so bear with me. It's my second week of a new year of university. Year two of being a compsci major *I smile at you. My eyes roll out of my head.* All is well. I have been spending most of my time with the Boy Friend, or at my computer. Though I'm not coding anywhere near as much as I'd like to be. I also let my therapist take a look at my website. I don't have very much to say, so I'm going to talk a bit about my hobbies, and what I'd like to spend more time on...

My number one priority as of now is probably reading. I have been so out of the habit as my old prescription was incredibly outdated. I have my new glasses now, but I'm taking my time getting back into the groove of it. I recently finished Pygmalion, and I have very mixed feelings about the ending of it. I love Henry Higgins' character sooo much, and I felt as though I didn't get to say a proper goodbye to him. He was just... gone, and my heart felt lonely again.Gargoyle

I've gotten so many new books within the past few months. My favorites have probably been all of the collectible doll books, including their histories, guides, and just photographs. I really should add a page for my dolls to this site soon. Would that be interesting? They're all shared between me & the Boy Friend, though, so I don't want to publicize any that may be personal to him. (Thinking...)

That's all I have for today. I hope to go out again soon so I can write a better entry. I really need to get into the habit of jotting things down as they come to me. I had a Lovely time out a couple of weeks ago, and it would have made for a great blog entry. Well... Goodnight for now...
